You have found something. Lovely! Below you can read exactly how things go from here: what shipping costs, how you pay, when your parcel leaves and what happens if something goes wrong along the way.

Everything on this page follows our Warranty & Terms. Where that text describes something in more detail, that text applies.

What shipping costs

What you pay depends on the weight of your order and on where it is going. The basket works it out automatically, so you always see the amount before you check out.

Heavier than 23 kg, or too large for parcel post

Cabinets, longcase clocks, chairs and large mirrors are not something we send by parcel post. A lighter piece can be too big as well: if it does not fit within roughly 100 × 70 × 58 cm, it falls outside these rates. Those you collect in Oldenzaal, free of charge and by appointment. The product page always says when this applies.

Shipping to Bulgaria, Cyprus and Malta is possible, but falls outside these rates. Send us a message and we will give you a price in advance.

Insured shipping

If your purchase is worth more than € 100, the parcel travels insured. We cover that cost; there is nothing for you to tick.

Paying

All prices in our shop are in euros and include VAT.

You can pay by Apple Pay, Google Pay, iDEAL, credit card, Klarna, PayPal and Bancontact. Your order is final as soon as we have received your payment and you have had an order confirmation by email. Has that confirmation not arrived? Do check your spam folder, and otherwise feel free to mail us.

Paying with Klarna. If you choose to pay later, you pay Klarna and their terms apply alongside ours. For the item itself we remain your point of contact. If you send something back, report it to Klarna as well, otherwise the payment simply stays open.

One item, several places. Each of our items is unique and some are listed on Whoppah or Catawiki at the same time. Very occasionally something turns out to have just been sold after you ordered it. We will let you know straight away and refund the full amount within 5 working days.

Paying safely. Payment runs through the secured environment of our shop. We do not see or store your payment details. Stuck at the checkout? Mail us and we will take a look with you.

When your parcel leaves

We send your order within 4 working days of receiving your payment. It is often quicker, but this is what you may expect from us. You get a track and trace code as soon as the parcel is on its way. How long it takes after that is up to the carrier. We ship with PostNL or DHL, depending on size and weight.

Count on 2 working days to Belgium and 3 to 8 working days to the other EU destinations, depending on the country.

Do you need something in a hurry, as a present for instance? Send us a message before you order and we will see what is possible.

If we ever do not manage it within 4 working days, because of a holiday or illness for example, we will tell you and give you a new date. If it then still takes too long, you may set us a reasonable extra period. Should that pass as well, you can cancel the purchase at no cost and you will have your money back within 14 days.

Where we ship to

We ship within the European Union. Islands belonging to an EU country, such as Mallorca, Sicily or Crete, are simply included. Do count on a longer delivery time there.

What we do not do is ship to territories outside the customs and VAT territory of the EU, such as the Canary Islands, the French overseas departments and the Caribbean Netherlands. Do you live there? You can order perfectly well, but you then arrange a carrier yourself or collect the item. From the moment we hand the parcel to your carrier, the risk passes to you.

Collection and large objects

Collection in Oldenzaal is always possible, by appointment, and costs you nothing. Every item shows what is possible: shipping and collection, or collection only.

If it says collection only, the piece is too large, too heavy or too fragile for parcel post. If you would still like it delivered, you engage a carrier yourself. Mail us before you arrange that and we will think along about how the piece is best transported. The costs are yours and the risk passes as soon as we hand it over.

Here too you have 14 days to change your mind. If you do, the piece comes back the same way, at your own expense. For a large piece of furniture count on € 100 to € 250 in transport.

How we pack

We sell things that have had a life already and have years left in them. Making something new costs raw materials; keeping something old does not. That is what this shop is about, and it would be odd to let go of that at the front door.

So we pack with what we have: bubble wrap, cardboard and filling material that has already done service once before. Your box therefore does not always look brand new. It is packed the way we would want to receive a parcel ourselves.

With clocks and mechanical movements we always pack sensitive parts such as the pendulum, weights or key separately. That way they arrive intact. After receiving it you refit them, hang or stand the clock level and regulate it. That is part of a vintage movement and is not transport damage.

Arrived damaged

Until the moment you, or someone you have appointed, accepts the parcel, the shipment is our risk. If it goes missing or is damaged along the way, that is our concern and not yours.

If you do take something broken out of the box, let us know as soon as you can, preferably within 48 hours. That is not a hard deadline after which your rights lapse. We ask because we can still hold the carrier to account at that point.

What we need:

Keep the packaging if you can until the complaint has been settled.

Because our items are unique, we usually cannot replace one with an identical piece. Repair is sometimes possible. If neither works, you choose: a partial refund where you keep the item, or a full return with a refund of the whole amount. Where a complaint is justified, the return costs are ours.

Changed your mind

You have 14 days to change your mind, counting from the day after you received your order. An email is enough and you do not have to give a reason. Exactly how it goes from there is in our returns policy and in article 6 of our Warranty & Terms.

Another question?

Unsure about the shipping of a particular piece, or want to know whether something will arrive safely? Mail us at info@nextdoorvintage.nl.

Everything runs by email; that way nothing goes astray and we can look into your question calmly, with the clock or the vase in front of us if need be. We are glad to think along, also before you order.
